Do you give your students an opportunity to socialise online?

The past 3 weeks have seen impressive efforts by educators worldwide to transfer tuition online due to enforced closure by COVID-19.

We have all seen the video and social media content showing teachers and students having online lessons, and enjoying the time and contact until they have a chance again to study in physical classrooms.

An English language course taken in a foreign country includes regular classroom learning, but also so much more. Language travel is an experience.

Learning English is the main goal but making friends, learning about a new culture and creating new memories is a major factor when students make the decision to buy a course.

One area that all language schools and summer schools achieve this is with an active social programme.

Language courses take place in the most exciting cities and towns all over the world and schools develop their own unique activities (many of which are free) and really use the programme to embellish the overall student experience.

It has been no surprise, therefore, to see some of the LV clients bringing social programme activities online. These online sessions are both entertaining for the students and teachers alike, and these sessions also go a long way to cement brand loyalty.

Cork English College (CEC)

In Cork, in the Republic of Ireland, the team at CEC have been providing important grammar clinics, balanced with time where students and teachers can share time in ‘Coffee Chats’ which are very welcomed by their students and staff alike.

ILSC Language Schools

ILSC Language Schools have arranged such a varied and packed social schedule we are wondering how their students in Australia and Canada have time to study!

We were slightly intimidated by the ‘Insanity Workout’ sessions, but with things like gaming sessions, calligraphy and walking tours, ILSC are really offering some amazing things to help their students during these times of isolation.

There are so many quality language schools stepping up in such a fantastic way to support their students.

Many other schools will no doubt take note and start to offer similar activities or even things as simple as free conversation classes. What a great industry!
